A top official of Imo State government has confirmed that the former Governor of the State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, was arrested on the orders of the Imo State Government and reportedly handcuffed.
“Yes, it’s true; he has been arrested,” a top State Government official told journalists at the government House Owerri on Sunday
Sen. Okorocha has been engaged in a battle with incumbent Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and is said to have angered the Governor by forcibly reopening the Royal Palm Estate sealed by the State Government.
The State Government had recovered the Royal Palm Estate along Akachi road, Owerri, on Saturday in compliance with directive of the Imo State gazette on the report of the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on recovery of Lands and other related matters in the state.
A video has surfaced online where the lawmaker was engaged in a fisticuffs with agents of Imo State government.
