Umahi, Orji Uzor Kalu Join Anyim in 2023 Presidential Race

9Barely one week after former President of the Senate and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Anyim Pius Anyim met with Igbo leaders and the members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southeast to inform them of his intention to contest the 2023 Presidential election, his home state governor, David Umahi has also indicated interest in the plum job.

Umahi on Tuesday in Abuja after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari told journalists that he had informed the president of his intention to contest for Nigeria’s highest office.

Earlier, the chief whip of the Senate and former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu also announced his readiness to contest for the same office if the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) zones its Presidential ticket to the Southeast.

Similarly, former governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu also declared his intention to join the race stating that he had equally informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his intention.
