Uche Ogbuagu Impeached as Imo Assembly Majority Leader

Hon. Uche Ogbuagu has been impeached as the Majority Leader of the Imo State House of Assembly.


Ogbuagu was impeached on Thursday during plenary session precided over by the Speaker, Hon. Paul Emezim.


The impeachment was according to a source at the House of Assembly was a result of power play between the impeached Majority Leader and another lawmaker, Hon. Amarachi Iwuanyanwu.

Ogbuagu, who represents Ikeduru state constituency, had defected to the All Progressives Congress from Peoples Democratic Party shortly after Emeka Ihedioha was removed in January 2020 by the supreme Court as governor in order to emerge a principal officer of the house.
The speaker, Paul Emezim, who was presiding the plenary announced that the majority leader of the house had been impeached.

After the impeachment the House peacefully carried on with its schedule for the day.
