Ebonyi Assembly is now “House of Approval ” – Ali Odefa

The National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Southeast Zone, Chief (Dr) Ali Odefa has described the Ebonyi State House of Assembly as a “house of approval.”

Chief Odefa made the assertion at the Harvest/Thanksgiving service of the Presbyterian Church, St Paul’s Congregation, Abakaliki.

Odefa expressed dismay over the indiscriminate approval of all requests of the state Government without any recourse to the interest of the public by the stste parliament. He said that the people of the state must hold their representatives in the house accountable for the misfortunes that have befallen the people of the state under the autocratic leadership of Mr. David Umahi as the state governor.

Chief Odefa noted that “the government of Ebonyi State under Mr. Umahi does not care about the teeming masses of the state, as the government’s policies in the state have further impoverished the people of the state.

The party leader noted that the EBHA recently approved the government’s request to sell off all properties of the state in other parts of Nigeria including, Aba, Abuja and Lagos.

It will be recalled that Ebonyi State House of Assembly has been in the eye of the storm over series of secret laws the state Parliament has passed under governor Umahi which have brought untold hardship on residents of the state.

The Assembly recently secretly passed the “Ebonyi State Cybercrime Prohibition Law of Ebonyi State, 2021” which the state commissioner for Information, Uchenna Orji relied on to brutally harass and arrest a broadcaster, Geoffrey Chikwere for allegedly paddling “fake news.”
