College of Nursing and Midwifery Bill Goes Passes Second Reading in the Senate

Senate on Thursday passed for Second Reading a bill seeking the establishment the Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery, Muchalla, Adamawa state.


The bill sponsored by the lawmaker representing Adamawa North on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Sen Ishaku Elisha Abbo was widely supported by his colleagues who said the establishment of the institution will further enhance manpower development in the Nigerian health sector and improve healthcare delivery services in the Northeast state.


The passage of the bill was seconded by Sen Sani Musa (Niger East, APC).


Ruling on the bill passage, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan who presided at the plenary referred the bill to the Senate Committee on Tertiary Education and TETFUND for further legislative action and mandated the committee to report back to the senate within four weeks.
